Open Faculty Positions 2011/12

During the 2011/12 academic year the College of Liberal Arts will search for tenure-track and tenured faculty positions in the arts, humanities and social sciences, as described below. Positions will be full-time over the nine-month academic year and will begin fall semester 2012.

Position descriptions and application instructions are accessed by visiting the corresponding employment requisitions on the University of Minnesota's Employment web site. Requisitions are open to receiving applications when posted to the web site.

Application materials must be submitted electronically. Please refer to individual employment requisitions for specific departmental requirements. Minimum materials that must be submitted as attachments to the online application include a cover letter and a current curriculum vitae. Additional materials may be required when the online application is submitted or at a later date. Art

The Department of Art will search for a tenure-track position in sculpture to begin fall semester 2012.

Art History

The Department of Art History will search for a tenure-track position in East Asian Art to begin fall semester 2012.

Classical and Near Eastern Studies

The Department of Classical and Near Eastern Studies will search for a tenured position at the rank of associate professor in New Testament and Christian Studies to begin fall 2012. This position is the Sundet Chair in New Testament and Christian Studies, an endowed professorship.

Economics

The Department of Economics will search for an open-rank faculty position to begin fall semester 2012. Appointment will be made as a tenure-track assistant professor, tenured associate professor or tenured professor, depending on qualifications and experience. Candidates must apply to the appropriate posting. Area of specialization is open.

Journalism & Mass Communication

The School of Journalism & Mass Communication will search for a tenure-track position in journalism to begin fall semester 2012.

The Institute of Linguistics will search for a tenure-track position in phonology or syntax (approached from a cognitive/biological perspective) to begin fall semester 2012.

Music

The School of Music will search for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in orchestral conducting to begin fall semester 2012 or fall semester 2013. Appointment will be made as a tenure-track assistant professor or tenured associate professor, depending on qualifications and experience. The position will serve as the Director of University Orchestras. Candidates must apply to the appropriate posting.
